contrast-teeHere is the link to download the new Contrast tee – FREE SEWING PATTERN.

The Contrast Tee, I have to admit, is more of a hack on the Open Shoulder Top than a totally new pattern. If you have already downloaded or drawn out the Open Shoulder Top then all you really need is the extra triangle shape.

The instructions on how to put it together are slightly different. And, beware when you are cutting, I have done the trims on the Contrast Tee as one long piece rather than 2 shorter ones that join.

contrast-tt-drawingThe Contrast Tee is a whole lot more casual than the Open Shoulder Top just through use of a different fabric and covering up the shoulders. It is shown here using 2 different soft jerseys. I have gone for a bit of a nautical theme with the blue and white stripe and the red polka dot.

boden-topIt would also look great as a floral mixed with a stripe for a hotchpotch Boden look. Or try two different florals – the key to mixing florals is to make sure you use different scales. So, a tiny ditsy print would work well with a big tropical flower. (Using two of the same scale is a bit confusing for the eye.) The same goes for stripes – a really chunky stripe with a fine pinstripe works fine.
