Here is the latest of my sewing projects – liberty print fabric top. This cute little top was made without a pattern. I just cut out a simple t-shirt shape (cutting round a favourite top of mine) but with the fabric on the bias rather than straight on. This gives the finished garment a soft, slightly fitted look rather than hanging squarely. Have a look at my cutting fabric on the bias to see the advantages and ways of cutting fabric on the bias.
I mixed this pretty blue/green Liberty floral fabric with a shot (duo tone) satin fabric. Quite difficult to photograph! It looks purple one way and green the other, picking up the colours of the ditsy print. Both of these fabrics are from Fabworks Mill Shop who do a great range of Liberty fabrics at a really good price. I think they might be seconds (though I’m not sure as they look perfect to me).
