Everyday Chic Dress – BUFFET HACK
5-6 hours in 2 parts
Join us for a day of sewing with step-by-step tuition. Our online class allows you to see clear demonstrations, get advice as you need it and to ask questions along the way.
The Everyday Chic Dress is a super-versatile dress, designed to suit every body shape. With its spacious pockets and raglan sleeves, it is comfortable and easy to wear. Our Buffet Hack adds some gathers to the middle section and another tier to the lower edge for a floaty and elegant look, with all the comfort of the original dress. So whether you have made the original Everyday Chic Dress or not, this Summer statement piece is a great addition to your wardrobe.
Follow Tree, our experienced teacher and renowned sewing vlogger, on a journey to make your very own version of this classic dress. Not only will you get step-by-step instructions, but she will show you the techniques to make an adaption like this to any dress.
The Everyday Chic Dress comes in UK sizes 8 – 26. Click here for more information about the pattern.
Tree runs a successful sewing YouTube channel – Stitchless TV – with over 100K subscribers. She runs workshops on a regular basis at the Knitting & Stitching Show and is the designer of her own range of sewing patterns.
Our live class gives you the opportunity to ask advice as you work. Tree’s role as a designer means she has a vast knowledge of fabrics and pattern cutting, as well as years of teaching experience. The two part format of the day gives you the chance to follow the demos in real time – and you can catch up in the breaks if you need to.
Start 10am – Introduction to our hack options: choose from a round or a split neckline, choose your sleeve length, choose your gather (a delicate A-line with a fuller lower tier or full and twirly on both layers). Measuring and deciding on a size, cutting your paper pattern.
11.30am – Take a break for a cuppa (or catch up if you need to)
Cutting your fabric
12.30 – Break for lunch
1pm – Starting to sew: building your pockets, gathering your tiers, attaching the raglan sleeves, adding the facing.
Break for a cuppa
Closing the side seams, putting your dress together and adding the finishing details.
4.30 – 5pm – finish! Sit back and admire your new dress!
Grab a cup of tea and have all your questions answered. The class will be LIVE so you can interact and ask questions along the way. Places are limited to make it as much like an in-person class as possible.
Our online classes are run by Zoom – a free platform that you can download onto your laptop or phone. In your confirmation email you will be sent a link to join your online class and along with this, you will also be sent a list of materials, suggested fabrics, quantities and equipment you will need. If your class requires a pattern this will sent as soon as you have booked.
You don’t have to appear on screen yourself if you don’t want to. You can turn your camera and microphone off and just use the chat box to ask questions.
