We are thrilled to be able to introduce the brand spanking new Sew Different Gallery. The gallery showcases a selection of our favourite patterns to date – a mixture of a our FREE single size downloads as well as the multisize downloads and paper patterns we now do.
Click on the GALLERY tab on the right side of the top menu bar. Roll over each garment to see information, fabric details, pattern hacks and associated posts for each pattern.
Sew Different has grown really quickly over the last year and there is SO MUCH information on the site that I know it can be easy to miss things. This layout is a new way to browse the site so that you will hopefully not miss out on things that might be relevant to you. For example, if you have bought the Cocoon Jacket pattern in the past, it might be of interest to see the new pattern hack that goes with it. A hack is a great way to bring a new lease of life to your pattern and let you reuse it with a different look.
The gallery project has taken some time to create….it took a full day (of ironing and steaming out creases mainly) in the studio to photograph each outfit. Malcolm and I spent a long time playing with the lighting – I wanted a strong side light for dramatic effect, but keeping the detail and texture of the fabrics clear is also a challenge. When I looked at the photography afterwards, I realised that my colour and fabric choices seem to fall into two main schemes. So, I named then the Denim Collection and the Coral Collection. There was then the computer time to combine all the photos (with the magic of Photoshop) into two main images. And then, of course, linking all the relevant information to every item garment.
So, go ahead and browse the gallery at your leisure and I hope you find some new snippet of information or project that you haven’t come across previously.
