Join us for a two day workshop to make the Kusama Jacket
Whether you are tackling a fully lined jacket for the first time, or you have the experience but would like to enjoy some social sewing, you will go home with a beautiful jacket that you have made yourself. Suitable for those with a little experience and upwards, you can make our Kusama Jacket with help every step of the way.

ABOUT THE KUSAMA JACKET
The Kusama Jacket is the ultimate utilitarian piece, perfect for an extra layer of snugness. This fully lined, oversized jacket features half-length raglan sleeves and a funnel neck for added warmth. It fastens with three large poppers and includes huge patch pockets for ample storage.
We recommend the following fabrics for the jacket and offer a free consultation service if you have any queries about the fabric you are planning to bring. Please email [email protected] for advice.
OUTER FABRIC: Denim, boiled wool, heavy cotton, bouclé, felt, scuba, heavy linen, corduroy, velvet, twill, tweed
LINING FABRIC: lining fabric, lightweight cotton, viscose
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The workshop runs from 9.30am – 4.30pm and includes the cost of the pattern and a light lunch. Tara will be your teacher for the day – she has a relaxed, cheerful manner and a wealth of teaching experience. She will be able to help you with every element, from taking your own measurements to creating the collar.
You do not need to bring anything except your own fabric, thread and poppers/buttons. There are sewing machines, scissors and everything you could need on hand at the studio, however, if you prefer to sew on your own machine, that is fine too. You are very welcome to bring your own.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Sew Different is located within the Dean Clough mill complex in a dedicated sewing studio with lots of natural light. We are located on the first floor with lift access. Halifax town centre, bus station and train station are a ten minute walk from the studio. There is a Travel Lodge and plenty of metered parking on site.

Cost £220 – £100 deposit required to book your place and the full balance required 6 weeks before the workshop starts. Please note that deposits are non-refundable.

Private workshops for solo sewists or small groups can be arranged. They can be run to a similar format as our listed retreat but you would have the studio to yourselves.
