A bag workshop for beginners
Join us for a one day workshops to make the Paradise Tote Bag. We will be using one of our Quick Makes patterns to teach you the basics of reading a pattern and learning skills of bag-making.
You will need to be familiar with how to use a sewing machine but no more experience is required. Come along and learn some new skills and go home with a bag that you have made yourself.

ABOUT THE PARADISE TOTE
The Paradise Tote is a generous sized shopper with two front pockets. It is fully lined with decorative button details, comfortable straps and depth for all your essentials. Make from anything from corduroy to heavy cotton. For a more structured finish, use iron-on wadding such as Bosal.
You will need to bring your own fabric:
Outer fabric – 0.75m – recommended fabrics: heavy cotton, corduroy, wool, denim
Lining fabric – 0.5m – recommended fabrics: light/medium weight cotton

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The workshop runs from 9.30am – 4.30pm and includes the cost of the pattern and a tasty lunch. Tara will be your teacher for the day – she has a relaxed, cheerful manner and a wealth of teaching experience. She will be able to help you with every element, from choosing the right fabric to the getting perfect finish.
You do not need to bring any equipment. There are sewing machines, scissors and everything you could need on hand at the studio, however, if you prefer to sew on your own machine, you are very welcome to bring your own.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Sew Different is located within the Dean Clough mill complex in a dedicated sewing studio with lots of natural light. We are located on the first floor with lift access. Halifax town centre, bus station and train station are a ten minute walk from the studio. There is a Travel Lodge and plenty of metered parking on site.

Private workshops for solo sewists or small groups can be arranged. They can be run to a similar format as our listed retreat but you would have the studio to yourselves.
