Introducing the first in our new range of KITBAGS. The Botanical Tote is a fabulous hold-everything tote bag with a detachable inner pouch. The kit provides you with everything you need to put the bag together, including all materials and parts. It comes with fully illustrated instructions and a paper pattern.

The front of the bag is a limited edition fabric, the design of which is based on a series of watercolour paintings by Laura Casey (that’s me) that originate in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I have long wanted to combine my two great loves of sewing and painting. These have come together to make the Botanical Tote, which is now available to you as a limited edition bag-making kit.

These delicate works of art have been printed onto high quality bull denim for a pretty but durable end result. There is a detailing of co-ordinating grosgrain ribbon running down the centre. The inside facing is a 100% cotton herringbone in a deckchair stripe and the lining is a lighter cotton chambray.

There are oversized eyelets to house the shoulder straps – these are are a simple clip-together design that do not require any special equipment. The shoulder straps are held in place with screw-together metal rivets.

The back of the bag and the handles are made from a high quality teal faux leather which is both durable AND easy to sew with. (There are tips on how to sew leather in the instructions.) The finishing touch is our custom-made embroidered KITABG label.

Inside the main bag is a smaller zippered pouch, just right for keeping your wallet and phone separately. The pouch is attached to a swivel clip inside the bag making it easily detachable.

The inner pouch matches the bag front in heavy denim and is lined with a pretty purple striped cotton. The co-ordinating zipper is also included.

Bag making is quite new to me and I have realised that it can be an expensive and complicated job to buy all the separate components, hence my idea to provide it all for you in one easy package for a bag design that you know will work. The finished bag measurements are:
