Introducing the Creators Collection

Hello, lovely makers! 💛

I am so excited to introduce you to my latest collection of sewing patterns—designed for anyone who loves practical, stylish workwear with a creative twist. Whether you are a gardener, a potter, a chef, an artist or a sewist, there’s something for you. This collection was born out of Sew Different’s move into the historic Dean Clough mill complex just about a year ago. Surrounded by artists, creatives, and makers of all kinds, I found myself completely inspired by this vibrant community. The patterns in this collection reflect that blend of artistry and utility—perfect for those who need their clothing to work as hard as they do!

Each design in this range is inspired by iconic female artists, and I’ve focused on making sure these pieces are versatile, comfortable, and, of course, equipped with plenty of pockets!

This new collection is ideal for those durable fabrics we all love—denim, corduroy, cotton—and every pattern comes in an extended size range from UK 8 to 28/30.

I want to give a huge thank you to one of the artists, Claire Murray, who kindly lent me her beautiful studio for the collection’s photography. If you’ve spotted the stunning paintings in the background of the shots, they are all Claire’s incredible work. You can find her work at clairemurrayart.co.uk

Now, onto the designs!

The Osborn Dungarees

If you live in dungarees as much as I do, you’re going to love the Osborn Dungarees! Named after the English painter, Emily Mary Osborn, this 3/4 length workwear classic is designed with a wide leg and a slimmer fitting bodice to give you both comfort and shape. They feature large hip pockets and chunky straps for that extra utilitarian vibe. The best part? There’s an easy-access zip at the back, making them super simple to slip on. Wear them on their own or layered over a tee—these are bound to become a wardrobe essential!

The Hepworth Pinafore

Inspired by the incredible Barbara Hepworth, this pinafore is all about practicality with a touch of flair. With four spacious side panel pockets (yes, four!), a crossover back, and princess seams that create a flattering, slim fit over the bust, the Hepworth is perfect for layering over leggings and the A-line shape offers ease of movement. Whether you’re in the studio or out for a casual day, this piece is all about comfort and confidence.

The Riley Smock

The Riley Smock is for the free spirits among us. Named after Bridget Riley, this design is full, flowy, and just a bit dramatic in the best possible way! With voluminous gathers at the neckline and sleeves, and a fabulously oversized collar, this smock is a statement piece. The neck opens into a small V at the front, and the 3/4 length sleeves gather at the shoulder and cuff for a classic artist’s look. There are even in-seam pockets for all your essentials! You can choose between two length options, making it perfect whether you want to channel your inner artist or muse.

The Kusama Jacket

Every collection needs a great jacket, and this one takes the cake! The Kusama Jacket, named after the inimitable Yayoi Kusama, is the ultimate utilitarian piece for when you need that extra layer of warmth. Fully lined and oversized, with half-length raglan sleeves and a cozy funnel neck, it’s all about keeping you snug while you work (or play!). It fastens with three large poppers and has huge patch pockets, so there’s plenty of space to stash all your tools or treasures.

The Kahlo Tabard

Inspired by the iconic Frida Kahlo, this design is all about effortless wearability. The Kahlo Tabard slips on easily, with a wrap-style construction that nods to wartime practicality. The underlayer wraps to the back and secures with a button, while the outer layer wraps to the front and ties with a chunky grosgrain ribbon. The bodice is lined for comfort, and there are oversized pockets to carry everything you need. Simple, functional, and utterly charming, it’s perfect for those busy days when you need to be ready for anything.

The Cassatt Dress

Inspired by the timeless elegance of Mary Cassatt, this button-back, knee-length smock is a perfect blend of form and function. With a slim high collar and 3/4 length sleeves, the Cassatt Dress is the ideal casual dress. But the real stars here? The three large front pockets—perfect for carrying all your tools, brushes, or whatever you need to get creative. The bold topstitching adds that workwear edge, making this a go-to piece for artists, makers, and anyone who loves practicality with style.

I’m so proud of this range, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create with these patterns! Whether you’re crafting for work or play, these pieces will keep you stylish and comfortable all day long. And let’s be honest—can you ever have too many pockets? 😄

Happy sewing, and don’t forget to share your makes with me! ✂️
