Hello seamstresses! I have some fabulous new photographs of the Essential Denim Dress, Sew Different’s most popular paper pattern. This gorgeous orange version is made by the very talented Mollie Moxie who is one of several fabulous sewists who test run patterns for Sew Different. I love her sense of style and her choice of fabrics.

When I sent Mollie the pattern for the Essential Denim Dress a while back I had no idea what what her take on it would be. I love the new look she has given it and the way she has chosen to make it in just a single colour – this gorgeous and vibrant tangerine linen. She has maintained the denim style double stitching where the panels join to emphasise the strong diagonals that the dress is so well known for. If you’re not familiar with double stitching then have a look at my post on twin needles to help you get that authentic denim look. It’s easier than it looks!

The Essential Denim Dress (available here as a multisize paper or instantly downloadable pattern)  as the name suggests, was originally made in denim – have a look here if you haven’t seen the post. It works well with thick tights for the UK winters but Mollie’s version in a light linen makes the dress much more suitable for the hot summers that we only ever see a glimpse of. Looks stunning Mollie!
